Window On Wales has two branches, in Solva and St. Davids, both being housed in traditional stone buildings, which are filled with wide ranges of clothes and gifts deliberately chosen to be unlike the High Street.
In Solva, our clothing is housed in two traditional cottages, along with extensive choices of jewellery, scarves, hats, bags, wellies and Crocs. As we are next to the sea and the coast path, we have large stocks of surf wear, casuals and outdoor garments for men and women, as well as dresses, separates, and more unusual, individual pieces. The comment that we hear the most often and that we greatly appreciate, is that Window on Wales has clothes that you hardly ever see anywhere else.
The gifts are on the three floors of the granary building with food, cards, pottery , glass and candles on the ground floor. The first floor holds the toys, games and books for children, with the emphasis again on avoiding the branded products available in every supermarket. The top floor is home to ranges of rugs and quilts, local interest books, ideas for the garden, picture frames and much, much more.
Window on Wales was first opened in 1978 and the name was chosen to reflect the fact that it was a showcase for purely Welsh products. Although the past thirty years have made this more difficult, we stock many, affordable locally produced goods including traditional wooden love spoons, herbal soaps, painted glass, rugs, pottery, jewellery, scarves, cards and prints as well as many Welsh foodstuffs. We are also proud to support companies based in Wales, Gringo and KSJ and of course, Portmeirion.
The diverse range and good quality of the stock, together with the quirkiness of the buildings make Window On Wales a fascinating place to browse around. Both branches are open 7 days a week, all year round. Our Solva branch is right opposite the Harbour Carpark, (free parking). If you are in St David’s, our shop there is facing Cross Square with it’s 13C stone celtic cross. (Free parking behind at Bell Tower carpark).
